Hello and Welcome!
Hey, Bros and Bras, do you even ESO?
What is ESO you ask? Well it stands for Elder Scrolls Online. It a MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game), it was developed by ZeniMax Online Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks (they published the Fallout series of games, and a personal favorite of mine, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth), Bethesda has been publishing the Elder Scrolls series since 1994. I play this game on the Xbox One, but it is available for the PC and PS4 as well.
Since the Covid-19 pandemic hit, this has been my jam since for the most part I have been at home. I saw my buddy online was playing this a few months ago and I had not touched the game since late 2018 when I got the Xbox One. It was on Xbox Game Pass and I remember playing the crap out of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on the Xbox 360 for over 120 hours, so I thought why not, let’s give ESO a shot. Played it a bit and moved on to other games. Then as I have said I restarted playing about two months ago and I have only stopped the last few days because my Xbox One had a hardware failure and now I am waiting on a new console I have ordered a few days ago. I thought I would take this time to talk about how awesome this game is.
Elder Scrolls Online is a huge game and honestly a little overwhelming as a new player. First off, you create your own character or “toon” as players call them. There are ten different races you can play, you can also choose either to be female or male. The ten races are as follows:
Human Races: Bretons, Imperials, Nord, and Redguards.
Elvish Races: Altmer (High Elves), Bosmer (Wood Elves), Dunmer (Dark Elves), and Orsimer (Orcs).
Bestial Races: Argonians and Khajiit.
Now there are pros and cons to each race depending on what type of class you play, sometimes one class is better than another at certain things to a degree which I will get into at a later time on this new blog.
The six classes are as follows: Dragonknight, Necromancer, Nightblade, Sorcerer Templar, and Warden.
Each class has different types of attacks, spells, and passive abilities. Your character also has three attribute slots: Magicka, Stamina, and Healing. These are important and I will discuss these at a later date.
There are seven different skill lines in ESO with two new ones introduced in the new DLC expansion. The skill lines are as follows: Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Clothier, Enchanting, Jewelry Crafting, Provisioning, and Woodworking. The two new skill lines are Scrying and Excavation. I will discuss these skill lines in a later blog post.
Alright Bros and Bras, still with me? Cool beans. Come back tomorrow for more ESO goodness!
Take care and don’t step on a Khajiit’s tail! Me-OW!
